Making M&E Meaningful—Addressing Tensions, Gaining Traction

The mandate to demonstrate a foundation’s impact is not new. But that doesn’t mean that measurement is easy to do or inevitably valuable. This session will help funders advance their ability to overcome common questions and challenges that prevent measurement from becoming truly meaningful—a powerful tool that will increase their ability to both prove and improve their impact. We’ll start with a simple, universally applicable framework that helps leaders design and conduct M&E in ways that both build on and improve strategy, grantmaking, and stakeholder engagement. Then we’ll get interactive, discussing practical approaches to attendees’ current challenges, no matter how data-driven their organizations are currently.

Jacob Allen, Senior Partner, Cicero Group

Callie Kennel, Engagement Manager, Cicero Group

Teach & Learn Session IV:
Grantee Portal

GivingData’s Grantee Portal improves communication between foundations and their grantees and relieves the burden and duplication of work on both sides. Risk Takers, Change Makers

Communities all over the country are faced with deep challenges, from the impacts of climate change, to voting, and the preservation of democracy itself. In a time when urgency and cooperation are of paramount importance, perhaps it’s time to re-negotiate the traditional rules of doing business. Join Utah Senator Derek Kitchen in an exploration of how we can take our big problems and think about them in a different way. In doing so, we can create new opportunities to boost our own potential to influence the outcomes we desire. By taking calculated risks, we can uncover creative ways to break through and leave a lasting impact with our work.
Derek Kitchen, Utah State Senator
1:30 - 2:45 pm Breakout Session IV:
Trust-based Philanthropy in action
